Fishing in Socal Recommended Hot Spots
A 17-pound, 10-ounce largemouth bass was landed at Corona Lake by Randy Muirhead of Glen Ivy last week setting a new lake record. It is also one of the best bass landed in Southern California this year.
Muirhead said the 17-10, caught on a plastic worm, was the smallest he hooked that eve.
He said the bass bite has been very good over the past week, and he also landed bass at 12 1/2 and 12 3/4 pounds in recent days. All of the bass have been released back into the lake.
"I don't know what was going on that night, but there were a bunch of big fish and they were all hitting. I had one fish rip the hook right off my lure, a jointed crank plug," said Muirhead, who fessed up to catching and releasing a lot of bass over the past month and wasn't all that thrilled telling.
"Oh man, I don't want to tell about that lake. Everyone will be out there now. Next time I'll keep my mouth shut," laughed Muirhead.

NOW HERE'S THE BIG NEWS
The summer season is winding down but we will be
stocking catfish every Tuesday during the day,
in full view of all the fishermen.
We are in the process of cleaning Santa Ana
River Lake and the Water District will be taking
the water down to clean the sides of the Lake.
We will remain open and fishing will be allowed.
Remember the water will be low requiring you to
walk down to the water level. This condition should
be in effect for about 30 days. The good news is the
fish will be concentrated and should make for excellent fishing.
Huckleberry Kids Fish Pond will be open during the cleaning process.
PLEASE NOTE: There will be no 24 hour fishing during the cleaning of
Santa Ana River Lakes. No private boats will be allowed due to low
water conditions and no launch ramp available.
CORONA LAKE IS OPEN---
and regular fishing and full water conditions remain.
Stocking of catfish will occur every Tuesday during the day.
24 hour fishing will be available on Friday and Saturday
nights at Corona Lake.
We are watching water temperatures and as soon as the
conditions are OK, we will open for our annual Trout Season.
Stay tuned for our official Trout Grand Opening.
As it looks right now we are a couple weeks away,
probably some time near October 16th to October 30th.
